Introducing Elevator Video
We all know the phenomenon of elevator music, or 'muzak'. When I hear it I always wonder who on earth earns money with composing and playing this kind of crappy shit.
"Elevator music (piped music or lift music) refers to the gentle instrumental arrangements of popular music designed for playing in shopping malls, grocery stores, department stores, telephone systems (while the caller is on hold), cruise ships, airports, on television shows, doctors' and dentists' offices, and elevators. The term is also frequently applied as a generic (and often derogatory) term for any form of Easy Listening (...) or Middle of the road music. (...) The Muzak Corporation is a supplier of business background music. In fact, the term 'muzak' has become a generic epithet for excessively bland music."
It strikes me that more and more places have screens inside with so-called 'video art' played on it. Every loungebar, every nightclub, even lots of cafes nowadays think they aren't hip any more when they don't have a projector or a flatscreen tv showing arty farty videos by some loony (who finished art school but God knows how he/she made it). Like fluorescent coloured strokes jumping from left to right, giving you the feeling of a bad LSD trip. Or, watch this (please don't start crying instantly):
The funny thing is, no one seems to give a fuck about what is played (quality, huh?), as long as it looks serious and arty it's okay.
Therefore I want to introduce a new kind of background filling, directly related to elevator music:
'elevator video'. Or 'videa'.
Thanks for your attention.

McDrive Usage
Sometimes the work of a social scientist is very similar to the work of a police officer.
The results of a short observative research on McDrive usage on a Sunday night in the south of Holland:
- 40% of the Sunday night McDrive visitors are young couples, they closely win against categories 'father with a child' and 'men alone'.
- Remarkably high is the amount of male drivers, more than 95%.
